Welcome message Congress information > Welcome message
Dear fellows, it is my great honor to invite all of the members here at the 88th Annual Congress of
Korean society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery/2014 Korean Society of
Otorhinolaryngologic Clinicians.
Medical technology and knowledge are rapidly changing every day. However, the policy to maintain
lower medical insurance fees, which would not be the rewards and supports to improve the medical science, has not seemed to be changed. Despite the difficult environment, we have been going
through, I give respect and gratitude to all doctors who are constantly putting an effort to study and
educate within their own field.
Last year, otolaryngologists in this country have united and successfully hosted the 20th IFOS World Congress, and we have
improved ever since. The symposium of this year is all about enhancing our academic relationship with the Society of
Otorhinolaryngologic Clinicians, opening a new paradigm by holding the symposium from Friday to Monday.
The symposium seeks for specialization, defining more detailed majors, and this is applied to even the clinicians. I hope that this symposium will be an opportunity for all of the doctors, not only to exchange knowledge, but also to have conversations with
each other - whether they work at a clinic, a hospital or for the government, and to unite under the prosperity of
Otorhinolaryngology . In addition, I hope it will be both an opportunity and a turning point for the symposium itself, to become a
more international symposium.
I wish to offer my thanks and respect to Mr. Kyung Tae, Chairman, the borad of directer of the Korean Society of
Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, along with all other members of the committee, including Mr. Ja-won Koo, the
Scientific Committee-Director. I also would like to offer thanks to Mr. Ic Tae Kim, the president of the Korean Society of
Otorhinolaryngologic Clinicians along with all of the members.
My heart is filled with hope and happiness, thinking that I could meet and get to know our members and also the doctors from
other countries who have visited us here to offer their stimulating presentations.
I look forward to your participation and happy encounters of the members in April. Finally, I want to offer my gratitude for your
present and future support. Thank you.
Dear members of the Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (KORL), and the Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngologic Clinicians (KOSOC), it is my great honor to be appointed as the president of the KOSOC for the next two years.
I am looking forward to the 88th Annual Congress of Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery/2014 Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngologic Clinicians with great hope. In China, the
number 8 is considered as a symbol of progress and good will. This year turns out with the 88th
symposium, 18th executive of the KORL in charge of the symposium, and the 8th executive of KOSOC. I hope that this.

Symposium will remove obstacles and barriers, and become an opportunity for us to head toward a future of prosperity. However, rather than just believing in the number 8, it will be more crucial for us to keep the cooperation and support system of the KORL
and the KOSOC. I do firmly believe that this congress will demand more passionate participation and constant interest from all of
the members.
We, the members of this society, should be aware of that the strong bond has been built between the KORL and the KOSOC. It is well-known that the prosperity of clinicians becomes a strong and specific attraction for talented students to gather in this field,
getting along with the excellent educations and training from the society. This congress held by the society is not only a place for presenting the achievement of research of the participants, but also should be acknowledged as an extension of education,
aiming for the prosperity of both the society and the clinicians. Because of this, I believe that the KORL and the KOSOC should
co-host the congress, and support one another for each improvement. Such beliefs have been the pillar of last year's successful International Otorhinolaryngology Congress - thanks to the support and participation of its both members. I hope that you offer up your support for this year’s symposium as well.
Especially, we are grateful to the members of the KORL, as this spring symposium has been prepared with as much reflections of the KOSOC members's opinions and requests and is held on Sunday for your convenience. This has been a big decision of
the newly appointed executive of the congress; the meaning of the KORL and the KOSOC starting on together. And of course, the clinical programs for the clinicians are scheduled to be on Sunday as well. Therefore, we should respect this decision, and this kind of mutual consideration is an important and warm tradition in our field. I borrow this opportunity to thank the chairman of the
KORL, Mr. Tae Kyung for the consideration of the clinicians and decision to change the schedule of this symposium, and by
doing so, making this symposium a truly comprehensive symposium.
I also would like to thank all of the board members of the KORL who worked hard to help make this symposium a success, and
would like to give praise to the vice president, board members and the members of the academic committee within the KOSOC.
Finally, I give my respect and gratitude to all of the members participating in this symposium. Thank you.

Founded in 1947, the Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (KORL- HNS)
has grown more than 4,000 members in the society, and to be recognized in the field of medical
science and research worldwide.
The ground to achieve such global-scale is the members of the KORL-HNS have participated in our
congress to share their research results and to explore new ideas for topics. As such, the 88th
Annual Congress of the Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery has been
always full of energy and enthusiasm.

We are proud that the KORL- HNS has reached a global scale to a certain degree. The 5th Asia-Oceania Congress of
Otorhinolaryngological Society, 5th Congress of Asian-Pacific Hearing Loss, 10th Congress of IRS (International Rhinologic
Society), 22nd ISIAN (International Symposium on INFE, 25th Politzer Society Meeting, Collegium Oto-Rhino-Laryngolgicum
Amicitiae Sacrum Meeting, 6th Extraordinary International Symposium on Recent Advances in Otitis Media, 4th World Congress of International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Societies, 2nd and 8th Asia-Pacific Symposium on Cochlear Implant and
Related Science (1999, 2011), and just last year’s the 20th World Congress of International Federation of
Oto-Rhino-Laryngological Societies (IFOS) was held successfully thanks to the dedicated support and effort of our members.
Based on our experience, we would especially hold this year’s 88th Annual Congress of Korean Society of
Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery/ 2014 Spring Meeting of Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngologic Clinicians as an
international event. Expecting that this congress would contribute to the development of Otolaryngology with the great new ideas, technology, and research in the world
